Language is a strange thing. It can send a thought halfway around the world without it having to pack a single suitcase. It can comfort, explain, confuse, inspire, and occasionally cause two people to speak very convincingly about each other while still talking about completely different things.
I am a deaf translator. My work bridges languages, cultures, and forms of expression—and, above all, connects people.
It’s not just a matter of moving words from one language to another. After all, words aren’t moving boxes. Rather, you have to carry over the meaning, tone, intention, context, and sometimes even what lies between the lines or between the hands.

Sign languages are not simply illustrated versions of spoken language. They have their own structures, their own grammar, their own rhythm, and their own culture.
As a deaf boy, I came to understand language differently than most children. Words didn't just come to me through my ears … I had to discover them with my eyes. And in the process, I slowly came to realize: Language is so much more than just speaking.
It gives shape to our thoughts, puts names to our feelings, and builds bridges between our relationships. In short, language is the way we tell the world: “I am here.”
